Numismatic Pioneer & Scholar

A Lifetime Dedicated to India's Coinage Heritage

The journey began right after graduating in 1969, when Shri Shyam Lal (Goga) Jain chose to pursue the historic coin collecting hobby inherited from his father, Shri Jawahar Lal Jain. What commenced as an ancestral passion soon evolved into a lifelong vocation of numismatic preservation.

In the early years, Shri Goga Jain alongside his wife, Mrs. Sneh Jain, started with an antique and numismatic stall in Janpath, New Delhi. Driven by growing acclaim and collector patronage, they established the permanent flagship establishment Curios Centre in 1977 at 55, Gole Market, New Delhi - 110001.

In 1990, Shri Goga Jain was honored with the prestigious Gold Medal awarded by His Royal Highness of Nagpur for presenting the finest and most comprehensive collection of coins on the Delhi Sultanate.

In 1996, Shri Goga Jain and Mrs. Sneh Jain co-founded the Delhi Coin Society (DCS), where Shri Goga Jain serves as President and Mrs. Sneh Jain as Treasurer. In addition, Shri Goga Jain serves the local commercial and historic community as President of the Gole Market Traders Association.

Three Generations of Numismatic Scholarship

Deciphering Historic Scripts & Islamic Coinage

Preserving India's numismatic history requires deep linguistic scholarship. Carrying the legacy forward into the third generation, his daughter Shruti Jain has developed specialized expertise in reading Urdu and Arabic scripts, enabling precise decipherment, epigraphic attribution, and dating of rare Imperial Mughal, Delhi Sultanate, and Princely State coinages.

Today, Curios Centre remains an indispensable research destination for national institutions, royal descendants, numismatic authors, and discerning collectors seeking uncompromised provenance and expertise.
